Very Peri Pantone 2022 Color of the Year

The 2022 Pantone Color of the Year has been revealed! Plus, it’s a special color, too!

While there were two colors last year, that isn’t the same story for 2022. Typically, the selection process is a thoughtful process that is tied in with trend analysis. To say the least, the process is not taken lightly.

What makes this color special? Before we tell you, here’s a quote about the color by Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute:

“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family, encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time with its violet red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages creativity and imaginative expressions” (Pantone).

Out of the 1000’s of colors PANTONE has available, what makes this color so special not only lies in the last few words of Eiseman’s quote – “encourages creativity and imaginative expressions”. Very Peri was created for this year – and it’s the first time in the history of Pantone Colors of the Year a color was created specifically for the year.

The Color of the Year represents the “theme” of the year. As you will start to see this color popping up everywhere from the fashion industry to home furnishings to packaging, and graphic design, think of the meaning of the color and what it stands for the next time you see it.

Think about what it sparks in you. What type of creativity and imaginative expression does it encourage in you?
