Advertisements are everywhere. Whether you are watching TV, listening to the radio or checking your email, you are bound to see or hear an advertisement. Have you ever thought about how the company behind the advertisement makes you feel? Not the normal “I’m glad I caught that commercial because I know about this product”, but a real feeling that there is a connection between you and the company who presented the advertisement. For example, do you know if there has there ever been a time when you were exposed to an advertisement and you felt appreciated by the company in the ad? Have you ever felt special from being exposed to an ad?
While some TV, magazine and online ads are created to make consumers feel to trigger responses of need or want, there are other forms of advertising that can make consumers feel important, admired and even a priority.
This is why promotional products are a different breed of advertisements. Since they are tangible items, they can play on the senses of those who receive them giving them a very unique ability of making customers feel that is far beyond a like or a dislike opinion of a company. In fact, promotional product advertisements are surprisingly more refreshing than new socks! Here’s why:
- Sometimes, promotional items are given away as a gift. This gift is normally something that the recipient can hold onto as a lasting memory of the company who gave it to them. When a promotional gift is received, it can make you feel special.
- Chances are you are not going to see the same old promotional product from the same company over and over again. If a company does it right, they will always send fresh, new products so recipients do not have to say “not another… from…” *eye-roll*.
- You may not even think of a promotional item as an advertisement. Another reason promotional products are so refreshing is the advertisement is noticed second and when you are given a promotional item, you do not feel like an advertisement is “in your face”.
- There is a possibility that you can eat an advertisement. Sorry – your promotional item – oh yes, there are also food items that can hold advertisements, too: nothing but yummy goodness.
