A new year brings new opportunities, new resolutions and a new beginning, to name a few. The beginning of a new year is also the time when Pantone, “the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technology for the selection and accurate communication of color across a variety of different industries” (Pantone’s website) introduces the new Color of the Year.
Last month, Pantone announced that Emerald will be the Color of the Year for 2013. Pantone’s website describes this Color of the Year as “Lively. Radiant. Lush…A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well being, balance and harmony”.
What this means is you will start to see this fashionable color more and more throughout the year on fashion runways, in shopping malls, on kitchen appliances, makeup palette’s and more.
What this also means is there will be a fresh new color palette to go right along with the new hue. According to the Pantone Fashion Color Report Spring 2013, “designers overwhelmingly address consumers’ desire for self-expression, balance and the need to re-energize. The color direction for spring builds upon these compelling needs with a palette that mixes dynamic brights with novel neutrals to create a harmonious balance,” all of which surround the new Color of the Year.
The spring colors that will be seen along with Emerald will be Dusk Blue, Tender Shoots, Lemon Zest, Linen, Poppy Red, Grayed Jade, African Violet, Monaco Blue, and Nectarine.
